- Expression of Interest are invited for Foresight Analysis on Medical Diagnostic Instruments for Belarus. The EU-Belarus Private Sector Development Project is a technical assistance program, managed by the World Bank and financed by the EU, which supports efforts to foster entrepreneurship and improve the business environment. Component 1.1 of this program supported the implementation of a Competitiveness Reinforcement Initiative (CRI), which conducted analyses on selected sectors and provided technical assistance for associated cluster organizations. The Bank team is building on the recommendations from the CRI to continue to support cluster organizations. Specifically, the World Bank is supporting private sector development efforts in the Instrument Making and Robotics (IMR) and Medtech industries. At the intersection of these two industries lies a market for medical diagnostic instruments. As a recommendation from the efforts under the CRI, the Bank plans to contract a firm to carry out a technology foresight analysis on medical diagnostic instruments, given the importance of constant adaptation in that industry to market demands. This industry segment was selected after consultation with cluster organizations. The analysis would aim to better understand emerging industry demands so that future public policies and public R&D efforts can better respond to competitive dynamics and evolution of the market. The firm should have extensive experience in completing foresight analysis and have specific expertise in this industry segment. The firms task would require extensive consultations with global thought leaders in this space. The task will also require limited interaction with business industry representatives in Belarus, which the World Bank will facilitate. Familiarity and experience working in Belarus and/or the region would be preferable.
